FOR the past 15 years, the Australian arm of leading international seed company BEJO Zaden has invited growers to inspect the latest and greatest in varietal trials at its property southeast of Melbourne.
On April 15 and 16, BEJO Seeds will again open the gates at its nine hectare farm on Hall Road at Skye, to showcase more than 160 vegetable seed varieties.
Specialists in mainly hybrid outdoor vegetables, the BEJO field trials will include more than 60 varieties new to Australia.

Bejo Seeds director Tony Hubbard said the event normally attracted mostly Victorian growers who were keen to see first-hand the results of varietal trials.
This year, several other seed companies are also hosting field days to showcase on-farm trials, all within a close radius.
Mr Hubbard said BEJO Seeds was an integrated breeder, producer and seller of its own material.
He said strength against diseases and flavour were two characteristics BEJO strived to include in all
of its new varieties.
The field days will showcase varieties covering 22 crops including several onion varieties.
Carrots will come under the spotlight, with the company unveiling about 30 different varieties, each seeded at two different densities.
The latest in machinery will also be on display and will include a planting machine from Transplant Systems, inter row cultivation machinery from Fix Engineering and bed formers and other equipment from GT Tractors.
